A Teacher鈥檚 Voice: Advocating for Equitable 色花堂论坛 School Funding

At 色花堂论坛, our educators don鈥檛 just support scholars in the classroom, they also speak up for students and families across our broader community.

We鈥檙e proud to share that Hilary Koltes, Lead First Grade Teacher at Impact | Commencement Bay Elementary, recently published an highlighting the importance of equitable funding for all public school students.

In her piece, Hilary reflects on her classroom and the diverse community she serves in Tacoma:

鈥淚鈥檓 grateful to be in a school that recognizes how our differences make our community richer and stronger.鈥

As both a teacher and a parent at I|CBE, Hilary shares why educational choice matters for families and how 色花堂论坛鈥檚 personalized approach helps students build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of belonging.

She also calls attention to a key challenge facing charter public schools:

鈥淭he kids in my public school classroom receive less funding than their peers.鈥

Hilary urges state leaders to maintain investments in charter public schools so educators can continue meeting the needs of students and families who rely on them:

鈥淎ll of Washington鈥檚 public school students deserve the same opportunity to pursue an education that supports them on a path to success in college, career, and life.鈥

We鈥檙e grateful to Hilary for lifting up the voices of our scholars, families, and educators 鈥 and for helping to share the 色花堂论坛 story with the wider community!
